Enter your shift data and get the real OEE instantly, with a full breakdown of availability, performance and quality.
How is OEE calculated?
OEE combines three factors multiplied together: Availability (actual operating time versus planned), Performance (actual speed versus ideal) and Quality (good units versus total produced).
Formula: OEE = Availability x Performance x Quality x 100
An OEE below 60% indicates significant losses and requires root-cause analysis. Between 60-85% is the typical range for most industrial plants. Above 85% is considered world-class performance.
Frequently asked questions — OEE Calculator
What is OEE and why is it important to measure it?
OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is the industry-standard metric for measuring how much of your planned production capacity actually becomes useful output. It combines three factors: availability, performance and quality. An OEE of 100% means you manufacture only good parts, as fast as possible, with zero downtime.
What is considered a good OEE score?
According to manufacturing industry benchmarks: an OEE below 60% is considered low and requires urgent corrective action; between 60% and 85% is a typical level with room for improvement; above 85% is considered world class. Very few plants sustain above 90%.
How is each of the three OEE factors calculated?
Availability = Operating time / Planned time (subtracts unplanned downtime). Performance = Units produced / (Operating time x Ideal speed) (measures micro-stops and slow cycles). Quality = Good units / Total units produced (subtracts rejects and rework). Final OEE is the product of the three factors.
What should I do if my OEE is below 60%?
First identify which factor is penalizing the result the most: if it is availability, review the most frequent downtime causes (breakdowns, changeovers, material shortages); if it is performance, analyze micro-stops and actual speed versus nominal; if it is quality, review the control process and root causes of defects. A RAG system like IgeraIndustria lets you query maintenance history and technical manuals to speed up diagnosis.
